John Ogilby (1600-1676)
Ogilby was a British cartographer, born in Scotland. He moved to London, where he established himself as a publisher specializing in geographic and cartographic material. After the Great Fire of 1666 destroyed his property, he set up a printing press from which he issued many books, the most important of which were a series of atlases, including a description of America: America: being an Accurate Description of the New World. London, 1670.
