In 1652 the Propaganda Fide commissioned Giovanni Battista Nicolosi (1610-70) to produce an atlas. The result, eight years later, was the very rare Dell'Hercole which contained maps of the world and the continents, the latter in four sheets each. All of the maps are found in the second volume.
