About Sanderus Antiquariaat

Antiquariaat Sanderus, named after the famous Flemish historian, Antonius Sanderus, is specialised in antiquarian books, medieval manuscripts, antique maps, sea charts and prints from the 15th to the 18th centuries.

Our gallery is located in Ghent (Belgium), Nederkouter 32, and we are usually but not always open Monday through Saturday from 10 to 12 am and 2 to 6 pm; an appointment is advisable.

Filip Devroe founded the company in 1980. It was first settled in Kortrijk but moved in 1993 to Ghent.

Brecht Devroe, the elder son, joined the business in 2002 and in 2003 came Dieter Devroe, the younger, into the business.

We have an extensive stock of antique maps of all parts of the world, a beautiful collection of old atlases including Cl. Ptolemaeus, A. Ortelius, Braun & Hogenberg, G. Mercator, W. & J. Blaeu, N. Visscher, etc., a wide range of old illustrated books and a fine collection of prints. We exhibit at several of important antiquarian map and book fairs as well as antique fairs.

The company is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association (ABA), and the "The Belgian Royal Chamber of Antiques and Art Dealers" (ROCA).
