Ptolemaic world map by Giuseppe Rosaccio. 1598

This map was first published in Ptolemy's Geographia by Ziletti in 1574 and in subsequennt editions by Rosaccio in 1598 and 1599.


Giuseppe Rosaccio (c. 1530 – 1621)

Italian physician and geographer. He is known for some geographic and cosmographic works, which brought him fame and were repeatedly reprinted. He wrote a book on the voyage from Venice to Constantinople, including maps of the itinerary accompanied by short texts. He also edited an edition of Ptolemy's Geography printed in Venice in 1598.
